Privacy Policy

Who this covers

Shop owners who sign in to Local Grid, and customers of those shops. We process customer data on behalf of the shop the customer checks in at.

What we collect

Shop owners: Google account name and email (for sign-in), shop name and settings, UPI ID if added, and — if the shop connects WhatsApp — its WhatsApp Business phone number, the related Meta account IDs and an access token.

Customers: mobile number, name if given or shown by WhatsApp, check-ins, stamps, rewards, bill amounts and khata (udhaar) entries the shop records, and the WhatsApp messages they send to the shop's connected number.

We never collect UPI PINs, card numbers or bank passwords. Payments happen in the customer's own UPI app.

Why we use it

To check customers in at the counter, keep their stamp card and khata, and send their check-in and stamp confirmations. We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising.

WhatsApp and Meta

When a shop connects WhatsApp, check-in messages and their replies go through the WhatsApp Business Platform (Cloud API), which Meta operates under its own terms. We use Meta data only to run Local Grid for the shop that connected its number. Reminders and offers are sent by the shop owner from their own WhatsApp app.

Where it is stored

With our service providers Supabase (database) and Vercel (hosting), in India. Access is limited to running Local Grid and meeting legal duties.

How long we keep it

While the shop uses Local Grid, until a deletion request is completed. If a customer replies STOP we stop messaging them and may keep only their number, so they are not messaged again.

Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can ask to access, correct or erase your personal data. Email hello@localgrid.in.
