Privacy Policy

Who this covers

Shop owners who sign in to Local Grid. Customers of those shops, whose WhatsApp number and messages are processed so the shop can run loyalty and chat. We process customer data on behalf of the shop that onboarded them.

What we collect

Shop owners: Google account name and email (sign-in), business name, UPI VPA, WhatsApp Business phone number and related Meta IDs, reward rules, and messages they send from the dashboard.

Customers: WhatsApp phone number, display name if WhatsApp provides it, inbound and outbound WhatsApp messages (including images sent in chat), stamp counts, visit times, and optional payment amounts the shop types in.

We do not collect UPI PINs, card numbers, or bank passwords. Payments stay in the customer’s own UPI app.

Why we collect it

To identify a customer at the counter, keep a stamp ledger, send stamp and reward messages, let the shop chat and broadcast on WhatsApp, and operate the product. We do not sell this data.

WhatsApp and Meta

Messages are sent and received through the WhatsApp Business Platform (Cloud API). Meta processes those messages under its own terms. Conversation fees are billed by Meta to the shop, not by us. We use WhatsApp APIs only to provide Local Grid to the shop that connected its number.

Where it is stored

Data is stored in our hosting and database providers (currently Vercel and Supabase) for running the app. Access is limited to operating Local Grid and complying with law.

How long we keep it

For as long as the shop uses Local Grid, then until a deletion request is completed. After a customer opts out we may keep only their phone number on a suppression list so we do not silently re-enrol them. That list is number-only.

How to request deletion

Email hello@localgrid.in from the Google account used to sign in (shop owners) or with the customer’s WhatsApp number and shop name (customers). You can also use our data deletion page. We complete requests within 30 days, except where law requires us to keep a record. Customers may also message the shop on WhatsApp to opt out of loyalty messages.

This deletion process is required even if local law does not mandate it, per Meta Platform Terms.

Your rights

Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may ask for access, correction, or erasure of personal data we hold, subject to the suppression-list caveat above. Email hello@localgrid.in.
